Still playing, Quakelive

So even after a few months I’m still playing quakelive, It’s really amazing that a game released so long ago (quake3 is ten years old this year). The stats tracking ability is fun- Check out my quakelive profile Now I’m hoping to learn how to customize my setup a little more.
They keep releasing maps and it’s fun when one I played a lot in the past pops up- brings back memories. If you’ve got a sign on let me know and I’ll keep an eye out for you in-game. Keep Fraggin!

Pacific rim festival

This weekend was the Pacific Rim festival in old Sacramento. I always enjoy this event- Lot’s of good food and interesting dances, the colorful costumes make for some interesting pictures. The heat was a little daunting but it wasn’t quite as hot as last year.

Lake Natomas

So while I was down in Bakersfield, my Aunt mentioned she had a canoe she didn’t use and that I could have it if I wanted. Since we are fortunate to have so many waterways in the Sacramento region I was quick to take her up on the offer. This weekend I took it out for a test ride on Lake Natomas. My original plan was to put in at the USCS aquatic center but the rowing races were scheduled for this weekend so instead I headed over to Willow creek where I was able to put in uplake from the race course. I spotted lots of birds including the usual egrets, a couple of mergansers and cormorants. The weather was perfect, a really good day to be out on the lake.

Family visits

The last couple of months have gone by in a blink. There’s been quite a bit of family activity. After having my car breakdown in southern California I got to spend some time with my Mom, Dad and Grandma, James, Emily and Michael have been in town a couple of times. We did some produce shopping at Denios, went to lunch at the spaghetti factory and this last weekend we ate at Lalo’s. Lalo’s is a wonderful restaraunt in Southern Sacramento that serves authentic Mexican food. It’s the only place I’ve found here that serves molcajete like we had in Tonalá The food was delicious and not expensive at all!
