I had time off work for Halloween this year and since my Parents were heading up to Greenville we decided to make it a big family get together. I had an enjoyable drive up the Feather river canyon and of course made a few stops on the way to admire the scenery and take a few pictures. The season has been somewhat strange this year with sudden dips of cold followed by warm spells, so the fall colors weren’t as bright as in past years.
I made it to Greenville around midday and we had a pleasant afternoon catching up on family news. That evening we took my nephews to a Halloween carnival at the local school, Dad even dressed up as the mad hatter. He was surprised to see there were several people with hatter costumes as well!
The next day we headed out to Indian falls to join the folks at the Dawn center for some apple picking and cider pressing. It was a fun event with music, a wonderful potluck. kids and dogs running through the orchard and a whole lot of apples getting squished. We headed back to Greenville as the sun started to go down tired but happy.
When Wednesday rolled around we were finally looking at the big day- Halloween, for this we traveled to were my brother works in Quincy, here there was trick or treating organized along main street, It was like the whole town was involved with all sorts of great costumes and decorations. Even the high school band was performing.
We also did some sightseeing, and while fall was late this year there was some fall color to be seen.
I drove home through Reno which gave me a chance to stop at Scheels- a sporting goods store so big they have a Ferris wheel inside!
